'I was playing regular volleyball in the second division in Leverkusen, when I first got in touch with sitting volleyball. Bayer Leverkusen, as one of the biggest and most successful clubs in sitting volleyball in Germany, introduced some of the guys of our volleyball team to play sitting volleyball against the club team of Bayer Leverkusen. The game was so fast and even though we lost, I was fascinated by that sport from the very first moment. So I started playing sitting volleyball twice a week in the club and also in the juniors sitting volleyball team. That was in 2007 and I am still fascinated by this sport. In 2009 Leverkusen was looking for a coach of the juniors team, so I started working together with Martin Blechschmidt. After four years as a coach on a national club level and several tournaments on European- and World level as a player, I was asked to take over the women´s national team.
What motivates me the most is the ambition to get more people in touch with this sport. People should be made aware of the fact, that playing volleyball on the ground is respectively an impressive and completely new side of playing volleyball. Sitting volleyball offers almost an infinite number of tactical and technical possibilities.
Therefore my advice for other coaches would be to be aware of all technical and tactical skills in sitting volleyball. Do not make the mistake, just to transfer any system, which works in volleyball, onto sitting volleyball.
And never forget to spread your passion for the sport you love!'
